Jackson Bay
Hello, I'm Jackson. I am a graduate of Ashland University in Ohio majoring in commercial art with a focus in Graphic Design, although that can be simplified to just "Graphic Design" as I usually do because that program title is unnecessarily long.
I have always been interested in the practical applications of art, how we can utilize beautiful works to communicate ideas, promote causes, and influence the world. Graphic design is a great avenue into exploring those goals. I think that as artists working in the visual space, we have an obligation to not only provide clients with beautiful, effective branding, but also to constantly be thinking about ways to innovate and expand upon existing styles to create even more refined communicative elements.
I often feel as if overly complex or busy compositions tend to detract from their effectiveness, which is why the Swiss school’s approach to design appeals to me so much. My work is largely inspired by styles that focus on bold and intentional composition rather than the intricacies of their individual elements, making me immediately drawn to Swiss design, Bauhaus, and minimalism.
My work is digital, focusing on print and other stationary mediums, as well as video and motion graphics. I strive to gain a deeper understanding of stylistic choices and learn to effectively implement the best ideas that the industry has given rise to, and also push the boundaries of what those styles do best, resulting in a balance between numerous design ideologies that best communicate the appropriate tone or feeling for an idea.
I am currently seeking employment opportunities in the Columbus and central Ohio area. If you would like to contact me, the my email address is jacksonbay98@yahoo.com.
